Privacy Policy
In short: Playglot has no accounts. The words you study, your quiz and game results and your settings are stored only on your device and are not sent to us. The app uses Google services for usage statistics, crash reports, remote configuration, optional rewarded ads and subscriptions. The data these services process is described one by one below.
1. Scope and data controller
This policy covers the Playglot mobile app published on Google Play
(package name com.develoop.playglot). The app is published by Develoop. Data
controller: Develoop. Users in Turkey can find the notice required under
Turkish Personal Data Protection Law No. 6698 here.
2. Data that stays on your device
Playglot does not ask you to create an account; it does not ask for your name, email address or phone number. The data the app needs to work is kept only on your device, in the app's own storage, and is not sent to our servers (we have no server):
- Learning data (in the on-device SQLite database): the words you study and their review schedule, quiz results, game results and records, daily activity and streak, badges you earned, and the free tier's daily usage counters.
- Settings and small state (in the on-device MMKV store): sound, vibration and reminder preferences, and your study plan (level range, daily word count).
- Subscription status cache: whether Premium is active is stored on the device so the app opens correctly even when offline. This is not backed up; it is queried again from Google Play every time the app opens.
- Word content: the read-only word database shipped with the app. It contains no personal data.
3. Android Auto Backup
If Android's built-in "Auto Backup" feature is turned on, your learning database, settings and study plan are backed up by Android to the Google Drive space tied to your own Google account and restored when you switch phones or reinstall the app. The backup is stored encrypted by Google; we cannot access it. Word content, the subscription cache and advertising and analytics identifiers are not included in the backup.
You can turn backup off under your device's Settings → Google → Backup (on some devices Settings → System → Backup). If you turn backup off, your progress will not come back if you delete the app or change devices.
4. Third-party services
The app uses the following Google services. These services process data under their own privacy terms and on their own servers. The app itself does not send these services your name, email address or the content you study.
Google Analytics for Firebase (usage statistics)
- Data processed: app instance ID (a random identifier specific to this installation of the app), device model, operating system version, app version, language, approximate country/region derived from the IP address, session durations and automatic events such as app opens. Analytics collection of the device advertising ID and the use of data for ad personalization are turned off.
- Events sent by the app: saving a study plan (pool, level range, daily word count), finishing a quiz (quiz type, number of questions and correct answers), opening the Premium screen, the result of a purchase or restore, and the result of a rewarded ad. These events contain no personal data.
- Purpose: understanding which features are used and improving the app.
Firebase Crashlytics (crash reports)
- Data processed: technical information at the time of a crash or error (error details and code location), device model, operating system and app version, device state such as free memory and storage, the Crashlytics installation ID and short technical logs describing the app steps before the error. These logs contain no personal data.
- Purpose: finding and fixing bugs.
Firebase Remote Config (remote configuration)
- Data processed: technical information such as the Firebase installation ID, app version and device language.
- Purpose: being able to change some settings (for example the minimum supported version) without requiring an app update.
Google AdMob (free users only, rewarded ads only)
- The app has no banner or full-screen ads. There are only rewarded ads that free users start themselves in exchange for a reward (for example an extra game round). No ads are ever loaded for Premium users.
- Data processed: device advertising ID, IP address, device and app information, and ad interactions (impressions, clicks).
- Consent: users in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland are shown Google's consent form (User Messaging Platform) before the first ad. If you decline personalized ads, only non-personalized ads are shown. You can change this choice from the ad privacy options on the app's Settings screen.
- You can reset or delete your advertising ID under your device's Settings → Privacy → Ads.
Google Play Billing (subscription)
- The Premium subscription is purchased through Google Play. Your payment details (card and so on) are processed only by Google; the app never has access to them.
- From Google Play on your device, the app only reads the subscription status and the purchase token and acknowledges the purchase. This information is not sent to us or to any other server.
Pronunciation (the device's text-to-speech engine)
Words and sentences are read aloud by the text-to-speech (TTS) engine installed on your device. The app does not send data to its own server or to a cloud service for this. The terms of the TTS engine you use (for example Google's speech services) apply.
Feedback (email)
The "Send feedback" option in the app opens your device's email app with a draft addressed to our support address. The draft includes the app version and the Android version. If you send the email, we receive your email address and what you write, and we use them only to answer your request.

5. Permissions and notifications
- Notifications: The app only sends local notifications scheduled on your device (the daily review reminder). The notification permission is requested, with an explanation, at the moment you turn the reminder on. If you do not grant it, the app keeps working normally. The app does not receive push notifications from a server.
- Internet: for analytics, crash reports, remote configuration, ads and purchases. Learning and games work offline.
- Advertising ID: used only by AdMob, for rewarded ads.
- Google Play Billing: for the subscription.
- The app does not access your location, camera, microphone, contacts or files.
6. What we use data for
- Providing the app's core features (on your device; not sent to us).
- Verifying your subscription and unlocking Premium features.
- Finding and fixing bugs and keeping the app stable.
- Understanding in aggregate how features are used and improving the app.
- Showing free users rewarded ads when they ask for them.
- Answering your support requests.
We do not sell your data. We do not build advertising profiles.
7. International transfers
The Google services above process data on Google servers located outside your country, mainly in the United States and the European Union. Such transfers rely on the safeguards provided by the applicable legislation. For users in Turkey, details are in the Turkish Data Protection Law (KVKK) Notice.
8. Retention periods
- On-device data: stays on your device until you delete the app or clear its data.
- Google Drive backup: kept under Android's backup rules; deleted by Google if the device is not used for a long time.
- Google Analytics: user-level and event-level data is kept for 2 months (Google Analytics' retention setting); only aggregated reports that cannot be linked to anyone are kept longer.
- Crashlytics: crash reports are kept by Firebase for 90 days.
- Support emails: kept for at most 2 years after your request is resolved, then deleted.
9. Deleting your data and your rights
- All on-device data: deleted by uninstalling the app or via Settings → Apps → Playglot → Storage → Clear data.
- Google Drive backup: you can delete it in the Google Drive app under Backups, or from your device's backup settings.
- Analytics and crash data: this data is linked to random identifiers, not to your name. If you want it deleted, write to muhammedemenbey@gmail.com; we will fulfil your request using Firebase's deletion tools. To match your request, we may ask you for some technical information from the app.
- Subscription: you can manage or cancel your subscription on the Payments & subscriptions page in Google Play. Purchase records are kept by Google.
Depending on the law of the country you are in (for example the KVKK or the European Union's General Data Protection Regulation), you have the right to access your data, to request its correction or deletion, to object to its processing and to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. You can reach us at the address below for these rights.
10. Children
Playglot is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal data from children under 13. If you notice that such data is being processed, write to us and we will take the necessary action.
11. Security
All communication between the app and Google services uses encrypted (HTTPS/TLS) connections. Data on the device is kept in the private storage area that Android allocates to each app and that other apps cannot access. The app does not store passwords, payment details or identity details.
12. Changes
We may update this policy as the app changes. The current text is always published on this page and the effective date changes. We will announce important changes separately in the app or on the Google Play page.
